Tropical storm Son-Tinh is forecast to strengthen into a typhoon as it moves towards Vietnam.

At least 24 people have been killed as a result of tropical storm Son-Tinh in the Philippines, the government says.

The death toll was updated after casualty reports were received from the central and southern Philippines, officials said.

About half of the victims were killed by landslides and by drowning, while others were hit by debris or electrocuted.

More than 15,000 people are sheltering in government evacuation centres. At least six people remain missing.

The Philippines see between 15 and 20 major storms or typhoons each year, that occur mainly during the rainy season in the summer and autumn.

The storm is heading westward towards Vietnam at 22km/h (14mph) per hour and is forecast to strengthen into a typhoon.

Deadly Storm Batters Philippines

Previous||Next||HOME

Last night, many people on my Facebook list were posting about the quake that hit off Eastern Philippines. The 7.6 magnitude earthquake was reported to be quite long and violent, leaving some roads damaged and one woman killed in the collapse of a house in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao.

I read some news and many websites claim that with the massive quake, tsunami is likely going to happen in Indonesia, Japan, Palau, Taiwan, and other countries including the Philippines. I just hope that no Tsunami hits. I hope that everybody along the coast gets the warning as well.

Life is just full of problems and surprises of all shapes and sizes. This not only applies in life but in natural events too. Earthquake and Tsunami are something unforeseeable but we can always plan ahead and be prepared. I hope everyone continue to pray for everyone's safety and for the families who are affected by the earthquake everywhere in the world.

Meanwhile, in other news...

Robert Carabuena made a public apology just last week. Do you remember him? The man who committed a criminal law in the Philippines by bullying a traffic enforcer. That traffic enforcer who were only maintaining the public and social order and basically doing his freaking job!

Apparently, Robert was rushed to hospital after angry people outside the prosecutor's office cursed and doused him with bottled water. I just hope that this sets an example for all of you bullies out there EVERYWHERE - work, school, public - EVERYWHERE!

So, if you're a bully who has no respect, no mercy, no remorse, and no feelings at all, well, I just wanna say to you that karma is a bitch!
